International Advanced Energy Science Research and Education Center (IAESREC) will hold Science Cafe(IAESREC Science Cafe)from this semester. In thisScience Cafe, we would like to make an opportunity to discuss about science freely with coffee and snacks with fun. Each time, we will invite a speaker to provide a topic. The speakers will explain about their topics in a simple way for us including a people from different research backgrounds. If you want to know the new research fields, or if you want to ask and discuss about your daily scientific questions, please come and join our IAESREC Science Cafe!

The topic of the 2ndIAESREC Science Cafe is the series ”Have you heard of this research?” – Part 2. Dr. Afshin AFSHARI will introduce about his research, “forecasting of aggregated electrical load”. Please freely come and join us!

[Speaker]

Visiting professor of Kyoto University, Graduate School of Energy Science,

Dr. Afshin AFSHARI

[Title]

Short- to Mid-term Forecasting of Aggregate Electrical Load

[Abstract]

Load forecasting plays a key role in power system operation with respect to a range of important technical and economic factors. The analysis and management of several tasks such as market purchases/sales, day-ahead outage planning, unit commitment and economic dispatch, energy storage management, future energy contracts, power plants maintenance schedule, and portfolio structuring necessitates the knowledge of the upcoming demand and needs of load. The challenges, present situation, methodology and model selecting of load forecasting will be introduced in this presentation.
