Graduate School of Energy Science, Institute of
Advanced Energy, Department of Nuclear Engineering/Graduate School of
Engineering and Research Reactor Institute have adopted "Energy Science in
the Age of Global Warming" as the selected theme in the Global Center Of Excellence (GCOE) Program conceived by the
Ministry of Education, Science & Technology as a 5-year plan from 2008 to
2012. To enhance and further strengthen the education and research functions of
Japanese graduate schools, and to devise a system to train the creative
individuals that will lead the world in fields of research at the worldfs
highest level, the aim of this GCOE program is to focus its support on the
formation of an education & research centre of international excellence. To
these ends, and consistently with this agenda, the "GCOE Education
Unit" has been established to support the studies and research of students
in their doctorate studies.
This Education Unit offers an education program
entitled the "Zero CO2-Emissions Education
Program" which is designed to train future professionals to realize the
ezero CO2-emissionsf target. The purpose of this
education program is to train and develop academic researchers that will pass
on their personnel training know-how to the next generation; nurture corporate
researchers and administrators to implement energy policies and plans set; and
finally educate executives managing international organisations.
Post-graduate students who enrol in this
Education Unit and join the "Zero CO2-Emissions Education Program" can receive financial support to
defray them of expenses related to research and research-related travel. In
addition, these students are eligible for GCOE employment as RAs or TAs.@ (For details, refer to Form 4(a) and 4(c) and to the
relevant appendixes: "Notes on obtaining recommendation
to work as an RA" and "Notes on obtaining
recommendation to work as an TA").
