Emphasis is put on studies of interactions between charged particles and electromagnetic fields. Physics and technology related to microwave waves are investigated for plasma heating, current drive, and diagnostics such as radiometer, reflectometer, and interferometer. Utilization of high-energy neutral beams is studied for plasma heating and momentum control to obtain high-performance plasmas. Plasma transport is investigated based on the development of active beam spectroscopy.
