\u00a0 On December 16, 2024, at the 5th International Joint Conference of the Innovative Africa Program (IAfP) at Kyoto University, Oc\u00e9ane Rakotomavo, an M2 exchange student from the Graduate School of Agronomy, University of Antananarivo\u2014hosted by the International Advanced Energy Science Research and Education Center (IAESREC) and the Department of Socio-Environmental Energy Science, Kyoto University\u2014delivered a poster presentation titled \u201cCharacterization of six Malagasy wood species (Cryptocarya louvelii, Tambourissa sp., Dilobeia thouarsii, Weinmannia minutiflora, Dalbergia sp., Pinus sp.) from Madagascar.\u201d She received the 2nd prize for the Best Presentation Award.
\u00a0 This work is part of a collaborative study with Ramilison M.F.A., Rakotomavo T.N.O., Abdelsalam D.H.A., Rabemanolontsoa H., Andrianarison E.R., Kawamoto H., and Ramananantoandro T. The results provide scientific evidence supporting the empirical uses of these wood species in Malagasy traditional medicine and culture, paving the way for their potential application in modern medicine, including oncology for cancer treatment.<\/p>\n
