Important Deadline for the Graduate School of Energy Science: If you wish to contact a faculty member at our Graduate School to request a Letter of Provisional Acceptance, please note that our deadline is Monday, August 24, 2026 (Japan Standard Time).

Please be aware that this date is earlier than the official MEXT deadline and applicants must complete their initial contact with us by August 24.

 

Applicants must contact their prospective supervisor through the AAO process. Please upload all required documents to the AAO website. For details, please refer to the links below.

Important Notice:

◆All applicants—including MEXT Scholarship recipients—must complete the formal GSES admission procedures to be officially enrolled as a regular student. (Please note that being selected as a MEXT Scholar does not guarantee admission to the Graduate School. All applicants must pass the entrance examination or the designated screening process.)

◆There are two methods of admission for international applicants.

1) International Energy Science Course (IESC):
The IESC allows students to complete their Master’s or Doctoral programs entirely in English.

Applications are accepted exclusively via our online submission system. Please review the IESC website carefully for detailed information.

Participating Departments:

Master’s Program: Operated by three departments (Socio-Environmental Energy Science, Fundamental Energy Science, and Energy Conversion Science)

Doctoral Program: Operated by all four GSES departments, including the Department of Energy Science and Technology.

2) Regular Master’s / Doctoral Programs:
These programs are offered by all four GSES departments.

  • Language Requirement: Proficiency in Japanese is required for the Master’s program.
