In the 21st IAESREC Science Cafe, we invite Dr. Masamichi Nishihara, Professor at International Research Center for Hydrogen Energy, Kyushu University.

He received his Ph.D. from Kumamoto University in 2003. He then conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Geneva (Prof. Matile’s group), followed by a position at the Kanagawa Academy of Science and Technology. In 2009, he joined Kyushu University as a research assistant professor and later became an assistant professor at WPI-I2CNER, Kyushu University in 2011. He was appointed associate professor at the Next-Generation Fuel Cell Research Center in 2016 and served as a visiting researcher at Toyota Central R&D Labs in 2022. Since October 2022, he has been a professor at the International Research Center for Hydrogen Energy, Kyushu University.

His research focuses on polymer and supramolecular chemistry, particularly on developing polymeric materials for hydrogen energy systems such as fuel cells and water electrolysis, with a strong emphasis on practical applications through industry-academia collaboration. This presentation will highlight his research findings.
